Saturday Steal 013: Disco Pants

Now Disco Pants never really got my attention. That was UNTIL... I saw Jessica Wright of TOWIE fame (yes, hardly the most iconic style icon I know, but still) rock up to her single launch party in them.

I think her outfit looked great; and not half as trashy as the gear you'll see other TOWIE cast members rock up in. And she really proved to me that you don't have to be the size 4 model you might think you need to be to wear a pair of skin tight shiny leggings!

I accept the description I just gave makes them sound atrocious, but if you search through a few blogs of girls wearing these trousers I guarantee your initial reaction will be changed.

Anyway, at £70 they were just a bit too steep for me to really be able to justify. *sob* but following a browsing session in River Island today I discovered what appear to be a near identical pair, for just £30.

Admittedly I haven't tried them on but River Island is a brand I do trust, so fingers crossed for finding the next best thing!

What are your thoughts on Disco Pants?

5 of the best: Summer Sandals

1 // The Neon One // The toes don't come out too often, so when they do, and they're tanned, why not throw on some neon to really set them off! The bright the better!

2 // The Blingy One // A golden strap given this one a bit of a Grecian feel, perfect for Summer. But not half as much as...

3 // The Grecian One // These are too cute to resist! They may be a bit on the pricey side, but they're too adorable to ignore! Although be careful if wearing during the Olympics, or in Greece, as people might think you've gone a bit overboard on the theme and mistake you for a torch bearer or something...

4 // The Animals One // Everyone needs a bit of an animal trim, and this subtle bow is great for a more neutral pair of sandals.

5 // The Tribal One // The orange and turquoise on these are perfect for a more tribal look. They're a bit chunkier than the others and make a bit of a statement, but are cute none the less.

What sandals will you be wearing this summer?

Five of the best: Denim Cut Offs

Seeing as I got a few nice comments on my "Five of the Best..." post last week on Maxi Dresses, I though I'd give it another go with denim cut offs.

The perfect addition to a summer wardrobe, I think we all own at least one pair (or in my case more like 5...) pairs of denim cut offs.

I think they're great for that festival feel, wearing on holiday, or just for when it's too hot for skinnies and you want to show off them legs!

1 // The Ombre One // Ombre is everywhere at the minute, from your hair to your bag to your shoes, it's all ombre! I think with shorts it gives them a brighter edge, and the effect it has is really cute, I think it'd look nice in a purple or pink-ish colour to make it a bit more girlie!

2 // The Sparkly One // Who can resist a bit of a sparkle? These are perfect for a summer festival and although a bit pricier than the rest, I like how they seem a bit dressier with the sequins. (Diamonds are a girls best friend after all!)

3 // The Leopard One // Leopard print is great for turning a pair of boring shorts into something a bit nicer. It's a little bit trashy yes, but that's exactly what I love!

4 // The Floral One // These are floral as well as being high waisted, giving them a bit more of a vintage feel. The print is very sweet, and I think they'd look great paired with some brogues or a blouse. Very cute!

5 // The Studded One // I am obsessed with studs at the moment, if I had a stud gun, every piece of clothing I own would be studded (quite lucky I don't then really!) I am desperate to get my hands on this pair but want to make sure they're not too short first, after trying on another pair from River Island and them almost revealing what I had for tea...

What's your favourite pair of denim cuts offs in your wardrobe?

Five of the best... Maxi Dresses

As Summer is quickly approaching, with a holiday imminent, I'm feeling the pressure to step out of my skinnies and into something a bit more fitting for the weather.

BUT, I have to admit, I don't own a maxi dress!

Shocking I know, but as I'm heading to Morocco, and not quite feeling short shorts for this year, a Maxi dress is looking like the most practical option.

1 // The Evening One // I like this one not only because of it's bright colour, but also because it's more of an evening dress than a day one. You'd definitely stand out it in, making it not quite suitable for a wallflower like me, but the black and nude version are gorgeous!

2 // The Optical Illusion One // One of the reasons I'm put off a jersey maxi dress is the fear that it'll cling to the parts of my body I don't really want to show off, namely the love handles and the stomach. But this clever one is not only black, but also has white sections at the side to create the illusion that the curves are in the right place. Perfect!

3 // The Floral(-ish) One // I love the Summery print of this one. Perfect for on the beach!

4 // The Leopard One // The combination of  lace and leopard on this one is perfect and very D&G. If it weren't strapless I'd definitely be tempted!

5 // The Colour Block One // A big block of coral, and the gold belt works well to keep everything in proportion. Another favourite.

Do you have any maxi dresses and what would you recommend for a maxi noob like myself?

Mid Week Wants

1 // RIVER ISLAND GOLD LION HEAD BELT // I'm loving more quirky jewellery at the moment, ear cuffs, hand braceletts, hair chains. And now head belts have got my attention as well. Perfect for the festival season, and seen on the likes of Kim Kardashian and Nicole Richie, these boho pieces will definitely make you stand out from the crowd.

2 // TOPSHOP HARD PHONE CASE WITH PURSE // I spied this in Topshop and loved it. It's a hard case for your phone with a section for money and card attached. Great for when lugging around my heavy bag isn't an option!

3 // CARVELA KNACK JEWELLED FALT SANDALS // Now it's getting hotter unfortunately my beloved heavy boots will have to take a well earned rest. So I really need some cute sandals to replace them, and this jewelled pair look great!

4 // RIVER ISLAND WHITE LION EMBELLISHED VEST // A fierce vest, I can't say no!

5 // RIVER ISLAND FLORAL PRINT PURSE // My purse at the moment could quite literally knock someone out, so I'm looking for a smaller one for when I switch to a smaller bag in the evening, and this one is floral! #win

6 // RIVER ISLAND CREAM CROCHET LACE SHORTS // Lace shorts are pretty much in every shop at the moment, and are great for Summer. I can't wait to get into a pair and get to sunnier climes!

7 // TOPSHOP MACARENA PEEPTOE LEATHER SHOES // For when I want to ditch the boots, but don't want to go fully foot-naked, some peep toe flats would be perfect paired with a Summery dress.

8 // ACCESSORIZE FLUOR RAINBOW FRIENDSHIP BRACELET // Summer requires a long row of bracelets going all the way up your arm, and this would be a great one to add to my collection. And it's brightly coloured to boot!

Colour Crush: Lemon

I haven't done a Colour Crush for a while, so though I'd come back with sickly sweet Lemon!

Yellow is usually a colour I'd shy away from, but as we get closer to Summer, and this things (hopefully) hotting up this week hopefully I'll be inspired to give it a go!

Do you have any lemon yellow in your wardrobe and how do you wear it?

Spring Summer Trend Guide Part 3: Rockabilly

Another Summer Trend Report and today it's the turn of Rockabily, or American Vintage.

This trend was particularly prevalent at the Prada, Mui Mui, and Marc Jacob shows, with fun, quirky prints doing the rounds, along with heavy styling with a clear influence from the 1950s era, with cat eye sunglasses, scarves tied around the neck and skirts which fall no higher than the knee.

I'm particuarly in love with these prints, and Motel's lipstick print top is a must!

Whilst bearing the midriff is something I, let alone the rest of the world, am not quite ready for, teaming a shorter length top or a bra top with a high waisted skirt seems like the perfect way to inject some 1950s fun into your spring/summer wardrobe.

Would you wear any of these items?
