Playing With Peplums

Peplums are big news at the moment following their dominance of the A/W catwalks, as well as being given the seal of approval from celebs including Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan and Blake Lively.

They are definately flooding the shops at the moment. If you type "Peplum" into any of the high street shops web sites and you'll find them in all sorts of forms; evening wear, day wear, tops, dresses, jackets, blouses.

Killer Curves

I think they're the perfect way to add a bit of a fancy floursih to what might otherwise be a plain outfit, as well as giving your curves a bit of a boost by creating the illusion of a more nipped in waist and wider hips. Perfect if you want to emphasise the curves you have, or give the impression that you've got more than you really do!

I love this offering from Oasis, a white peplum top with pearl detail on the shoulders, and I think paired with some black skinnies it make for the perfect outfit for a Spring evening.

A hard white clutch from Accessorize and some killer heels from River Island and you're good to go.

How would you wear a Peplum this season?

Spring Summer Trend Guide Part 1: Dapper Flapper

As the dreggs of the Christmas sales have finally made their way out of the shops to make way for the shiney new Spring/Summer clothes, we at last get to see the trends from the cat walk be translated into affordable clothes we can wear!

In part one of my Spring Summer Trend Guide I've chosen the 1920s inspired looks which were seen on the cat walks of Gucci, Etro and Roberto Cavalli.

I love the glamour of this look, no doubt inspired by popular TV programmes at the moment including Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey. It might not involve feather boas and those long cigarette holders, but pleated midi length skirts, the odd bit of fringing, drop waist dresses, a looser silouette, and heavy embellishment are fairly prominent in the shops, so there's no excuse not to look to the 1920s for some Summer inspiration!

In terms of make up, heavy lipsticks, victory rolls and those tucked under curly up dos will suit this look perfectly, just make sure you don't go overboard and look like you're going to a fancy dress party!

Which element of the flapper look can you see yourself wearing this Summer?

1 Dress: 5 Ways

I've got to admit I'm a sucker for a dress which can be worn multiple ways, to work, to a bar, to the shops, if it works hard it's a wardrobe must have! Topshop's basics often tick that box, including their Lace Flippy Tunic, for just £32 it'll take you to any occasion, and can be dressed up or down.

Here's my suggestions for five different ways to style this dress, which is your favourite?

Chanel A/W 2010 Look book- Ice Age

At Paris fashion week Chanel's show had a very ice-queen slash native-American slash arctic feel to it. He went all out, even importing a 265 foot iceburg from Scandanavia and I'm sure I saw a photo of an actual Yeti... Think knee high fluffy boots, heavy fur coats and toasty tights with delicate dresses underneath and your Winter Wonderland is complete. Here's a few of my favourite pieces from the high street that go with this look.

As a side note, I'd sell my own mother for that fur trimmed cape dress or those feather boots. Literally, I would...

Faux Fur Earmuffs, Monsoon £16

Greta Square Toe Mary Janes, Topshop £60

Fur Trim Cape Dress, Topshop £80

Diamantee Pears and Feathers Hairband, Accessorize £40

Curve Sequin Shift Dress, Topshop £120

Ivory Faux Fur Coat, Wallis, £85

Feather Cowl Back Jumpsuit, Topshop, £60
