Best Dresses 2011

Picking a best dressed for the entire year isn't easy! There's been hundreads of show stopping dresses worn for events throughout the year, but I've pulled out a few of my highlights of celebrities looking fabulous in all sorts of settings.

It wasn't an easy process let me tell you, and looking an endless pictures of flawless celebrities who have teams of people making them look perfect doesn't do much for the self esteem (hence why Miranda Kerr and Rosie Huntington Whiteley didn't make the cut, sorry ladies, but looking at pictures of you I've decided you don't count as human!)

So here are my top ten best dressed of the year:

First is Kate Winslet in Stella McCartney. Yes this dress is an optical illusion, but she looks hot! I've also seen a copy of this dress coming from Lipsy, so we'll all be able to create the illusion of an hourglass shape for 2012!

Next is Kim Kardashian. The Kardashians are boring me to death at the minute, but there's no denying their make up, styling and hair teams do a damn good job! This Roland Mouret dress might not be the perfect cut for her shape, but the gorgeous deep red colour wins me over!

Third is Lea Michele at the Tonight show wearing an Emilio Pucci number. Black and gold is always a winning combination and her loose waves and gold Louboutins make this a fantastic look.

Selena Gomez next, wearing a thigh split silver Reem Acra dress. She may be young but Selena always manages to look fantastic on the red carpet, and this occasion is no exception.

Emma Watson looked amazing and nearly every apearance she made last year. It was a busy year with her, saying goodbye to the Harry Potter franchise, modelling for Lancome and filming for new roles but she always shows she knows how to dress. She kept up her high standard at the Elle style awards wearing a Hakann cut out dress and nude heels.

Lauren Conrad always oozes that Californian chic look no matter what the setting, and her BCBG Max Azria paillette dress and tucked under bob she wore to the 2nd Autumn Annual Party in October represents her style perfectly. She's always dresses simply but stylishly and a flash of lipstick completes the look.

Blake Lively is often featuried on both the best and worst dressed lists, but on this occassion I think it's definately a winner. She attended the Time 100 Gala in April wearing a Zuhair Murad aqua dress. The colour and texture of the dress paired with her freshly dyed strawberry blonde hair made for a really special look.

Evan Rachel Wood often adopts the androgynous look with her punky cropped hair and she's one of the few celebrities who can pull it off. I love this edgier look including some D&G star print trousers and a leather jacket, one of the only looks in my list which is less classic and slightly more alternative. It takes guts to cut off all your hair and vary from the tight dresses which seem to rule the red carpet, and Evan Rachel Wood does it with gusto.

Finally is Anna Paquin in a Cushnie et Ochs long sleeve black dress with a revealed mid section. As well as staring in one of my favourite TV shows True Blood, Anna is always well presented on the red carpet. The simplicity of this dress paired with the chrome detailing I think makes for a winning combination and I always look forward to seeing what she is wearing next!
